Aubusson textiles are associated with the historic French tapestry-weaving tradition, and floral compositions became an important element of French decorative textiles. In this example, the surviving fragment is particularly attractive for the simplicity and openness of its composition, allowing the individual flowers and leaves to stand apart against the broad field of antique gold.

The most prominent motif is a large flower positioned toward one end of the pillow. Its layered petals are rendered in ivory, cream, and pale beige, surrounding a softly colored center of dusty pink, raspberry, rose, and pale peach. Deep teal and forest-green leaves provide a strong contrast to the pale flower, while a slender dark brown stem extends upward toward a smaller blossom. Additional fragmented flowers and botanical stems appear across the opposite side and lower portion of the textile, creating an asymmetrical arrangement that reflects the pillow's origin as a carefully selected section of a larger historic tapestry.

The ground has aged to a nuanced combination of mustard, ochre, antique gold, camel, and muted tan, complemented by cream, ivory, pink, raspberry, peach, teal green, deep green, brown, and aubergine details.
