Antique reverse-painted glass advertising sign promoting Old Age Whiskey, a brand distributed by Stein Bros. of Chicago. The sign features a rich emerald green field accented with silver and gold-tone reverse-painted lettering and decorative flourishes surrounding a central portrait vignette depicting a gentleman raising a glass while holding a bottle of Old Age Whiskey. Slogans reading "Touches the Spot" and "And Always Good" flank the portrait, while the lower portion prominently displays the Old Age Whiskey name above the Stein Bros. Chicago imprint. The sign retains its original period presentation with mirrored border elements, reverse-painted graphics, and substantial black-painted wood frame.

P. Pause & Co. of Chicago was a noted manufacturer of advertising mirrors and reverse-painted glass signs during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, producing promotional displays for breweries, distillers, cigar manufacturers, and other commercial clients. Stein Bros. marketed Old Age Whiskey in Chicago prior to the onset of Prohibition, and the brand appears to have disappeared by the late 1910s. See less
