Each chair features a sculptural black tubular-steel frame, upholstered turquoise seat and back, and long brass ferrules at the lower legs. The floating upholstered backrests are mounted on an articulated mechanism that allows them to pivot backward and forward with the sitter for comfort, giving the chairs a more sophisticated ergonomic design than a standard fixed-back armchair.

The turquoise upholstery is an older replacement rather than the original fabric. An underside label identifies a previous reupholstery job by a Buffalo, New York upholsterer. No original manufacturer label or maker’s mark has been found, so the chairs are being offered as maker unknown rather than attributed to a specific designer.

The brass ferrules retain their natural aged patina and have not been polished or refinished. The black metal frames also retain their vintage character.

These would work beautifully as living-room accent chairs, bedroom seating, office or conference chairs, or statement seating in a Mid-Century Modern interior.
