A substantial black lacquer console table, designed in a restrained Ming-style and produced in China c. 1930s. Measuring 74 inches wide, the table has a long, narrow profile with four drawers across the front, each fitted with a simple brass medallion pull. Broad panel legs extend into squared scroll-form feet, giving the piece a strong architectural presence.
The black lacquer has worn naturally along the edges and high points, revealing warmer reddish-brown tones beneath that give the surface a nicely aged appearance. Hand-cut dovetail joinery is visible in the construction at both the top and feet, indicating an early rather than mid 20th century build.
