Monumental three-dimensional hot dog display salvaged from Milwaukee County Stadium, former home of the Milwaukee Brewers and Braves. Constructed with a vinyl exterior and painted detailing, the sculpture depicts an oversized wiener nestled inside a rounded bun and topped with dimensional swirls of red ketchup, yellow mustard, and individually formed pieces of diced onion. Despite its enormous scale, the piece displays close attention to the shapes, colors, and overlapping arrangement of the condiments.
Likely created as an attention-grabbing concession or promotional display, the sculpture has a wonderfully exaggerated Pop Art quality and an unmistakable connection to Milwaukee’s baseball and stadium-food culture. The piece is exceptionally heavy and requires appropriate equipment and planning for relocation.
Milwaukee County Stadium opened in 1953, serving as the home of the Milwaukee Braves from 1953–1965 and the Milwaukee Brewers from 1970–2000.
