Raised on four modeled feet, the vessel combines an irregular hand-shaped rim with a substantial architectural body. Deep horizontal bands wrap the upper section, while incised geometric lines divide the surface into broad fields of tan, brown, olive, and muted blue-gray.

The upper exterior and interior are finished in an earthy olive-brown glaze, creating a restrained contrast with the more tactile lower body. Counts’ handling of the clay remains evident throughout: the softly uneven rim, carved surfaces, asymmetry, and individually formed feet give the vessel a strong handmade presence from every angle.

This is an intentional open vessel rather than a jar missing a lid. It may be displayed as a vase, sculptural ceramic, or standalone work of American studio pottery.
