Wall-mounted sconce, internally-lit round barber sign with painted glass lens and cast wall bracket.
This mid-century "bubble" style barber shop sign features a domed glass face with bold red diagonal stripes and a central blue "BARBER SHOP" text panel, reverse-painted and backlit for maximum visibility. Housed in a steel canister frame with original curved lens and aged zinc finish, the sign mounts securely to the wall via a cast iron bracket and armature. This style was commonly used in lieu of a spinning pole in compact storefronts or as auxiliary signage, especially in urban commercial corridors. The illuminated barber sign emerged in the early 20th century as a durable, electric alternative to the traditional rotating pole.
