The frame has an aged ivory painted finish with gold-colored decorative accents. A later-added upholstered seat features a floral pattern in rose, green, and muted yellow with coordinating double welt trim.

Purchased approximately 35 years ago from an antique dealer who was closing their business, this chair was part of the seller’s antique-store inventory. The frame is believed to date from the late 19th or early 20th century, although its exact age, maker, and country of origin are unknown. The originality of the painted finish is also unknown.

Condition includes visible chipping and losses to the painted and gold-colored decoration, particularly along the lower chair-back rail, a curved scroll on the back, and the front-leg ornaments. Cracks are visible in some decorative areas. The underside dust-cover fabric is torn. The upholstered seat was added by the current owner and is not original.
