This rare workshop chair from the 1930s combines the functional aesthetic of early industrial workplaces with the quality of a meticulously crafted plywood seat and backrest with birch veneer.
The organically rounded wooden elements display a beautiful grain and are mounted on a sturdy, centrally supported metal column base.
The workshop chair features a mechanical twist-lock height adjustment and an adjustable backrest with a characteristic Bakelite knob, as well as a four-star metal base with rounded ends—a typical detail of early German workshop and laboratory chairs.
The design is clear, functionally minimalist, and yet possesses an elegant form.
