The collection comprises three distinct casket forms, each displaying a different variation of Baccarat's sophisticated geometric cutting. The largest rectangular casket features a hinged lid, substantial faceted crystal walls, a gilt-metal framework, decorative floral-form fittings, a carrying handle, and an ornate frontal lock escutcheon. A second rectangular box is raised on petite gilt-metal feet and displays an intricate grid-pattern cutting throughout its body and hinged cover. Completing the group is a charming cylindrical casket with deeply cut diamond-pattern sides and a radiating star-cut lid, joined by a gilt-metal hinge and rim.
The crystal is particularly effective in the interplay between the deep geometric cutting and warm gold-toned mounts, producing the brilliance and jewel-like appearance associated with prestigious French crystal production of the period.
