This massive, heavy-walled utility vessel features a handleless, smooth profile designed for industrial crate shipping, standing with an 8" neck and a 5.5" wide mouth.The Marks: Features three distinct applied relief labels under an incredibly thick, glass-like, pouring orange-brown Albany-style slip glaze.A rare geometric "Chinese House" Kiln / Firebrick Logo certifying high-heat structural vitrification.An Upward/Broad Arrow Symbol acting as a factory mechanical clearance/fill-line mark.A stylized lowercase "h" master inspector mark tracking its production branch.The History & Unique Kiln Defect: This piece is a fascinating factory time capsule. During its high-heat firing over 130 years ago, an air pocket in the thick clay base exploded, blowing a clean hole through the outer lower wall. Because it was drenched in a thick slip glaze, the molten finish ran over the entire blow-out area, fusing the defect and permanently sealing the blown-out clay piece right to the inside floor of the vessel.Due to this beautiful, dramatic production failure, it never held acid, surviving perfectly in its raw factory state. It features a concave-upward base for heavy structural distribution and rich, multi-toned pooling and dripping glaze inside the mouth rim. See less
