An early “Minerva” two-tier side table by Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen, produced in Denmark by France & Daverkosen c. 1950s. Constructed from solid teak, the table features an uncommon hand-woven rattan shelf suspended between four slender, tapered legs, which appear to pass directly through it.
The new caning was left natural and unfinished, allowing it to gradually darken to a warmer golden tone with age. Compact but highly functional, the Minerva works equally well as a side table, nightstand, or small coffee table.
It is unmarked. The build and specs are consistent with production by France & Daverkosen.
