Postawka and Co., Factory at Osborn’s Planing Mill, State Street, in … Read more This antique, Victorian, “X Piano Taboret, Manufactured by L. Postawka and Co., Factory at Osborn’s Planing Mill, State Street, in Cambridgeport, Massachusetts”, were mainly used as piano/dressing/foot benches—but they also served as occasional seating, and were mainly found in wealthy drawing rooms—appreciated equally for their structural strength and portability. There is a knob that can be turned, so that the height can be adjusted, either higher or lower.
The cushion has been hand-stitched by a skilled artesian, usually utilizing wool or silk yarns on canvas. This geometric-medallion pattern, reflects folk-art influences, merged with formal neoclassical furniture designs—common in the 19th century, colonial and provincial workshops.
This stool weighs 16.3lbs and has adorable, little, wooden wheels. ;) See less
