A handsome matched pair of vintage brass table lamps, dating approximately to the 1960s–1970s, with sculptural baluster-form bases and strong Neoclassical and Hollywood Regency influence.
The bases are composed of stacked urn, column, and ring-turned forms rising from stepped circular plinths, giving the lamps an architectural quality reminiscent of period lighting by Stiffel and other high-quality American brass lamp manufacturers. No maker’s mark has been located, so these are offered as unattributed.
The brass has developed a warm, softly aged surface with darker patination in the recessed details, giving the pair considerably more depth than newly manufactured brass lighting. They have intentionally not been polished, allowing the next owner to retain the existing patina or bring them to a brighter finish.
Each lamp is fitted with a three-way socket, providing low, medium, and high illumination when used with an appropriate three-way bulb. Both are in working condition.
Shown with simple neutral linen-look drum shades, which update the traditional brass forms and make the pair especially versatile for contemporary interiors.
Well suited for use as bedside lamps, nightstand lamps, living room end-table lamps, console lamps, buffet lamps, library lamps, or matching bedroom lighting. Their combination of aged brass and classical form works beautifully in Hollywood Regency, Neoclassical, Grandmillennial, traditional, transitional, eclectic, English country, Ralph Lauren-inspired, and layered contemporary interiors.
