A striking early 20th-century French table lamp crafted in the tradition of Vieux Rouen faience, featuring an architectural baluster-form ceramic body richly decorated with hand-painted polychrome ornament.
The creamy white glazed faience is embellished in the characteristic Rouen palette of cobalt and powder blue, iron red, ochre yellow, olive green, and manganese-brown. Stylized floral sprays, scrolling foliage, and Renaissance-inspired motifs travel across the sculptural body, while the dramatically shaped lower section terminates in scrolling feet.
The ceramic is mounted upon an especially decorative rectangular metal plinth featuring an intricate pierced interlaced border. Its warm, naturally aged surface provides an attractive contrast to the colorful glazed faience.
Retaining its metal lamp harp and socket assembly, the lamp has been fitted with a later electrical cord and plug. The harp is fixed and is not removable.
Measuring approximately 13.5 inches from the base to the top of the socket, this is a particularly versatile size for a side table, writing desk, bedside table, console, or layered traditional interior.
An expressive example of French decorative faience, combining the exuberant color and ornament associated with the Rouen tradition with an unusually sculptural silhouette and handsome architectural metal base.

Very good antique condition. The faience ceramic body presents exceptionally well with no noted chips, cracks, or repairs. Hand-painted decoration remains vivid and well defined. Age-related patina, oxidation, discoloration, and surface wear are present on the metal base and fixed lamp harp, consistent with age and use and contributing to the lamp's antique character. The metal harp is fixed and is not removable. Later electrical cord and plug are present. Please review photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description.
