This hand-drawn nautical chart of the US and British Virgin Islands spans from Anegada to St. Croix, blending old-world style cartography with modern coordinates.
Included: Certificate of authenticity signed by the artist, Savanna Redman.
The idea for this chart formed around an idyllic day. The trade wind represented by a misty Saint Ursula, gently playing with the magnificent frigatebirds overhead and filling the sails of an old sailing ship.
The chart includes most bays and anchorages in the Virgin Islands, along with reefs, shoals, and drops familiar to today's fishermen, sailors, and divers. Wildlife woven into the chart: pelicans, frigatebirds, sea turtles, a nurse shark, a spotted eagle ray, bottlenose dolphins, and game fish, alongside my mermaids and sea monsters.
While these charts are hand-drawn and designed to stir the imagination, they are grounded in real geography. I work from GPS data, satellite imagery, and modern charts, translating them through the lens of traditional cartography — balancing accuracy with imagination.
I'd still advise against navigating by any map that includes mermaids or sea monsters. These charts are made for dreaming, for plotting the next adventure, and for remembering that day when...

Materials: 19-mil archival matte canvas, gallery-wrapped and stretched over 1.5" deep solid wood stretcher bars, pigment inks, solid wood float frame: black, 1.375" wide, 2" deep, 1.62" rabbet, pre-installed hanging hardware.
