The chairs feature Halabala’s highly recognizable sweeping bentwood armrests, forming a continuous sculptural curve around the upholstered body. Their generous proportions, gently reclined backs and low stance create a particularly strong and architectural silhouette. The pair retains its original pale green patterned upholstery, giving the chairs an appealing and authentic period character. The upholstery shows visible traces of age and use and would make these chairs excellent candidates for professional reupholstery. This provides an opportunity to select a textile, bouclé, mohair or sheepskin suited to a specific interior while preserving the important original wooden elements. The dark stained bentwood armrests contrast beautifully with the lighter upholstery and retain an attractive patina developed over many decades. Tapered wooden legs complete the distinctly Central European modernist design.
