The model is a defining example of Italian plastic design from the 1970s, combining sculptural form with technical innovation.

The armchair is in very good vintage condition with only minimal signs of wear, which are consistent with the authentic character of the original. The imprint "S.p.A. Artemide Milano – Modello Vicario – Design Vico Magistretti – Made in Italy" is clearly legible and attests to its originality and provenance.

The monolithic frame, made of high-gloss lacquered plastic, features a flowing, organic silhouette: the backrest and seat merge seamlessly, and the robustly shaped legs lend the armchair a striking, almost archaic presence. The rich, deep red lacquer finish underscores the sculptural effect and makes the Vicario a true statement piece for both modern and classically furnished spaces.

The Vicario chair was designed in 1970 by Vico Magistretti, and production by Artemide began in 1971.

Vico Magistretti (1920–2006) is considered one of the most important Italian architects and designers of the post-war period.
