With its very dynamic design, contrasting palette and sculptural treatment, this piece fits perfectly into the revival of french ceramics in the 1950s and 1960s. It evokes the spirit of the creations of georges jouve, pol chambost, roger capron in vallauris while retaining the very identifiable character of the elchinger productions of soufflenheim. I would date this cup to around 1955-1965, probably during the fernand elchinger period (1911-1975). Fernand ran the factory from 1936 and profoundly modernized its production, especially after the war. Signed under the base "elchinger" and "france". Dimensions: 40 × 33 × 13 cm. In perfect condition. Issuer / manufacturer: céramique elchinger (soufflenheim). Stamp / label: yes. Period: 20th century / mid century / 1940 - 1960. Country of origin: france.
