The defining feature is its rotating inner shade, which moves across the light source to create a progressive eclipse effect. By changing its position, the illumination can be adjusted while the appearance of the lamp shifts from a dark reflective sphere to a luminous crescent.

The polished chrome surface emphasizes the pure geometry of the design and creates constantly changing reflections of its surroundings. Measuring 22 cm in height and notably heavy for its size, the lamp has a particularly substantial and sculptural presence.

The lamp is fully functional and has been cleaned and polished. It remains in good vintage condition overall, with visible wear to the chrome finish. A crack is present on the upper side of the spherical shade. The lampholder has some rotational movement but remains functional. Switch and plug have been replaced.
