A life-size carved wooden sculpture with original polychrome work and a patina of age.
It depicts Saint Francis of Assisi in a hooded Franciscan habit, with a markedly ascetic face and eyes turned upward in mystical ecstasy. His right hand holds a processional staff; his left hand is extended in a gesture of blessing.
The carved base features a pair of winged cherubs supporting the sacred figure. The treatment of the deeply grooved folds and the dramatic facial expression are consistent with Italian Baroque religious sculpture from the 17th–18th centuries.
Condition consistent with its age, with excellent overall structural integrity.
