A large louis xv style flat desk, late 19th or early 20th century, crafted from mahogany wood and veneer, with marquetry in a herringbone pattern, a leather-covered top, and substantial gilt bronze mounts.
the desk rests on four cabriole legs. The uprights are adorned with gilt bronze female busts in the espagnolette style, extending into foliate drops down to the feet. The frieze also features bronze mounts decorated with acanthus leaves, rocaille motifs, and scrolls.
the front features three drawers: one central and two lateral. The fronts display herringbone veneer, highlighted by gilt bronze frames. The drawer keys are present.
the back echoes the decorative composition of the front with three false drawers, allowing the desk to be placed in the center of a room.
the leather shows scratches, stains, and signs of wear. Wear and age-related marks on the wood, veneer, and bronze mounts are visible in the photographs. Dimensions: l. 153 × h. 75 × d. 74 cm
