The finely modeled vessel rests on a raised pedestal foot and is distinguished by a pair of sculptural horned animal-mask handles emerging from molded foliate mounts. Its domed cover is finished with an unusual separately modeled twisted-loop handle. The entire composition is decorated by hand in cobalt blue, including intricate interlaced and geometric borders encircling the body, cover and foot. Cobalt brushwork also follows the contours of the molded handles and foliate ornament, integrating the painted and sculptural decoration.

The underside bears two hand-painted blue marks: a prominent clover/trefoil-type device together with a smaller secondary workshop or production mark.

The clover is particularly significant. Historical porcelain references identify the trefoil as a mark associated with Gotthelf Greiner's interconnected Thuringian manufactories and document its use at both Limbach and Grossbreitenbach, as well as within the broader Greiner manufacturing network. Because these closely related factories shared marks, personnel and stylistic characteristics, a definitive attribution to a single manufactory cannot be made from the mark alone.

Period references also caution that Grossbreitenbach trefoil marks were sometimes imperfectly painted and difficult to recognize as conventional clover leaves, an observation particularly relevant to the loosely rendered hand-painted mark found on this vessel.

The combination of the hand-painted clover-type mark, translucent porcelain body, cobalt decoration, molded construction and neoclassical ornament supports attribution to the late 18th-century Greiner/Thuringian porcelain tradition. The precise original table function remains uncertain; given its relatively small scale, it is best described conservatively as a covered table or serving vessel rather than a full-size tureen.
