This sculptural Mid-Century Modern … Read more A distinctive vintage adjustable piano stool manufactured by Tatra Nábytek, závod Martin, in Czechoslovakia around 1960. This sculptural Mid-Century Modern piece features a round wooden seat supported by a central wooden pedestal and four curved, root-like legs connected by a circular wooden stretcher. The unusual organic construction gives the stool a strong sculptural presence, while the adjustable threaded metal spindle allows the seat height to be changed for practical use at a piano or desk. The underside retains its original manufacturer’s label, identifying Tatra Nábytek, závod Martin, with the model number 615 377. The wood has been treated with bio oil, bringing out its natural grain and warm honey-colored finish.
