McIntosh in Scotland in the 1970s , this exquisite sideboard belongs to the prestigious Eden collection from Edinburgh. with its generous proportions, elegant elongated handles and beautifully considered design, it is a wonderful example of Scottish mid-century furniture. The sideboard offers excellent storage, with a two-door cupboard on the right , fitted with two shelves, and a bank of three smoothly gliding drawers on the left . One of the most distinctive features of this particular piece is the beautifully light-toned teakwood . The teak used for this sideboard is noticeably lighter than the other Eden sideboards we currently have in stock. This is one of the pleasures of furniture made from natural timber: each piece has its own character, colour and grain , and no two pieces of teak are exactly alike. The lighter tone gives this sideboard a particularly fresh and elegant appearance while allowing the natural grain of the timber to remain the main feature. The sideboard has been expertly and sympathetically restored , bringing the teak back to life while retaining the character and authenticity of the original piece. There are two faint marks on the top surface which have been subtly disguised rather than completely removed. These are minor signs of its history and have been treated with care rather than attempting to make the piece look artificially new. A beautiful and highly practical example of 1970s Scottish mid-century design , this Eden sideboard combines generous storage with the warmth and individuality that only genuine natural teak can provide.
