This pattern is less common in the marketplace.

It has the heavy collared rim (or shoulder) that was a trademark of RRP. The rim is incised in a chevron design, punctuated with thumbprints along the bottom. Below the shoulder, there is a wave design above and below the hand-applied brown striping. The rim and underside of the shoulder are unglazed, which is typical of the maker and period.

I purchased this bowl in 1972 in neighboring Bouckville, NY to display in our 1780's restored farmhouse. It later looked wonderful in the kitchen of our 1880's Victorian, but unfortunately my small farmhouse cape does not have the space for my collections.

Yellow ware is a type of earthenware which is not quite as durable as stoneware or ironstone. Therefore, most collectors find some chips and cracks to be commonplace, especially in the larger pieces. This bowl has only minor firing irregularities (see condition notes). It displays well and is structurally very sound. See less
