Large illuminated floor globe manufactured by Replogle Globes of Chicago, dating to the 1930s–1940s. The globe is constructed from twelve chromolithographed paper gores applied over a spherical form and fitted with a printed metal hour dial and brass-toned half-circle meridian. It is supported by a substantial turned wood pedestal with a fluted central column and four sweeping Streamline-style legs terminating in decorative brass claw feet.
The period cartography preserves geopolitical names and boundaries from the era, including "Yugoslavia" and "Rumania," while Pakistan is absent, helping place the globe prior to the country's establishment in 1947. The globe is internally illuminated, allowing the printed geography to glow when lit. Its combination of detailed period cartography, sculptural wood base, metal fittings, and integrated lighting makes it both a functional educational object and a substantial decorative floor piece.
