Early 20th-century double-sided porcelain enamel storefront sign advertising a beauty salon. Designed for perpendicular wall mounting, the rectangular sign retains its original metal flange and displays the same graphic and lettering on both faces. Bold burgundy lettering reading "BEAUTY SALON" is paired with the stylized profile of a woman with tightly curled and waved hair against a cream-colored ground.
The geometric lettering and streamlined female profile reflect the graphic design trends of the 1920s and 1930s, with strong Art Deco and modernist influence. The durable porcelain enamel construction was well suited to exterior commercial advertising, while the projecting flange allowed the sign to remain visible to pedestrians approaching from either direction.
