Executed in a rich mustard-yellow matte glaze with white porcelain interiors and a fine olive striped rim, the set exemplifies Tackett’s highly disciplined approach to tableware design.

Each cup rises from a compact pedestal foot, giving the otherwise minimal form a distinctive architectural quality, while the matching saucers repeat the same restrained circular geometry.

Tackett’s Schmid porcelain designs were produced in Japan for the European and American markets and are now recognized examples of postwar modern dinnerware.
Related Schmid/Tackett pieces are held by the International Museum of Dinnerware Design, which identifies the Kelco line as part of Tackett’s circa-1960 work for Schmid Kreglinger.

This set includes six demitasse / espresso cups and six matching saucers, for a total of 12 pieces.
Surviving pieces retain the Schmid/Tackett backstamp and original Japan foil labels.

The mustard glaze has a soft matte quality that shifts slightly with the light, while the contrasting high gloss white interior and olive striped rim sharpen the silhouette.
