A salesman sample or demonstrator for the Ashton Valve Company.
This demonstrator features a heavy steel case and is constructed of stainless steel on a wooden base. The entire demonstrator was precision machined to illustrate the quality of work that Ashton Valve Co. produced in their steam gauge systems. The setup comes with various fittings as well as an oiler.
Ashton Valve Co. was fundamental to the development and advancement of steam technology. The Ashton Valve Company was a Boston-based manufacturer of steam valves and gauges that played a significant role in late-19th and early-20th century industry. Founded in 1871 by engineer Henry G. Ashton, the company became known for its high-quality steam safety valves, pressure gauges, and related boiler accessories. Ashton's innovations - notably the first reliable "lock pop" safety valve - greatly improved boiler safety at a time when steam accidents were common, reportedly saving countless lives in the process
