Noke and Harry Fenton … Read more Authentic vintage Royal Doulton large character jug, “Simon the Cellarer,” model D5504. Designed by Charles J. Noke and Harry Fenton and produced in England from 1935–1960. Features Simon's wonderfully expressive hand-painted face, deep burgundy cap and white Elizabethan-style ruff collar. The elaborate handle is modeled as a large bunch of antique cellar keys, representing Simon's role as keeper of the wine cellar. Hand-painted and glazed Royal Doulton earthenware character jug featuring richly detailed facial features, burgundy cap, white ruff collar, and sculptural key-form handle.

Approximately 6" H × 5" W × 7.5" spout to handle. Royal Doulton England lion-and-crown factory backstamp to underside. A classic early Royal Doulton character jug with wonderful color, modeling and English character. See less
