The soft lighting and expressive face give the painting a striking presence. It is an oil on canvas by an unidentified artist, estimated to date to the mid-20th century.

The painting is set in a mid-century brown wood frame with a small amount of gilding in the inset. Writing on the reverse is difficult to decipher, so the artist remains unidentified.
