The exterior is decorated all the way around with exotic birds, oversized leaves, blossoms, curling vines, and botanical motifs in muted shades of turquoise, blue, burgundy, cream, ochre, and soft pink. The broad upper rim has an additional decorative border, while the interior is embellished with delicate figural and botanical designs, making the planter attractive even when displayed empty.

The underside bears a red Chinese seal-style mark. Based on the form, decoration, and mark, the piece is best described as Chinese, likely 20th century. The seal-style mark is shown in the photographs for reference.

The planter rests on a substantial coordinating decorative stand with scrolling legs and a warm reddish-brown glazed finish. Together, the planter and stand create an impressive statement piece for a living room, entry hall, sunroom, conservatory, or large indoor planting.
