Large-format ornithological print by Natural Curiosities, depicting the historic Rachamah, or “Bird of Pharaoh,” after the natural-history illustrations associated with Scottish explorer James Bruce’s late-18th-century Travels to Discover the Source of the Nile.
The bird is shown in muted blue-gray, black, ochre and ivory tones against an intentionally aged neutral ground, with the original-style inscription “Rachamah” and “Bruce’s Travels” below the image. Bruce described the Rachamah as a smaller vulture commonly found around Egypt and Cairo; the subject appears in the natural-history volume of his 1790 publication.
The print bears the Natural Curiosities embossed studio mark at the lower right and retains its Natural Curiosities label on the reverse. It is professionally presented under glass with a wide neutral linen-textured surround and dark faux-bamboo frame.
Overall framed dimensions: 25.5" W × 33.5" H.
