Its design … Read more A french mirrored wardrobe from the historicist period in the louis xvi style, made between 1880 and 1900. Its design is clearly proportioned and calmly structured: fluted corner pilasters, a continuous cube-patterned parquet frieze, and narrow frame profiles unite the mirrored doors into a formally closed front, accentuated only by the carved pediment.

function: formerly: storage of clothing and linens in the bourgeois bedroom, also serving as a substitute for a separate standing mirror.

today: usable as a wardrobe or hall cabinet, as a bookcase and display cabinet with adjustable shelves, or as storage furniture in living rooms and dressing rooms. Dimensions: h 210 cm, w 85 cm, d 38 cm.

material and condition: probably mahogany, solid and veneered, with light wood inlays in a cube pattern; brass fittings, mirrored door panels, interior fitted with adjustable shelves and three drawers. Well preserved with age-related wear, visible patina on the surfaces, and age-related marks on the mirror coating. Inspected, cleaned, and treated appropriately by kastellan. Constructively tested, stable and functionally reliable. See less
