The composition unfolds across an immense dreamlike space dominated by two reclining lions facing one another. In the foreground, a mysterious female figure, viewed from behind and dressed in a voluminous coral-red gown, advances toward the animals while holding a slender staff or flower. Beyond the lions rises the silhouette of a fantastical fortified city, while sharply receding perspective lines draw the viewer toward the distant horizon. Dalí further disrupts the conventional landscape through floating forms, sweeping linear elements and seemingly spontaneous graphic interventions in the sky, creating the sense of an imagined world suspended between reality and dream. The dramatic difference in scale between the woman, the enormous animals and the distant architecture is particularly characteristic of Dalí's Surrealist visual vocabulary, transforming an apparently recognizable landscape into an enigmatic psychological space. Executed as a woven textile, the work translates the delicacy of Dalí's drawing and graphic language into a richly textured decorative medium. The restrained background contrasts beautifully with the warm golden tones of the lions and the vivid coral-red dress of the central figure. The composition bears the Salvador Dalí signature in the lower right. with its unusually large dimensions of 180 × 140 cm (70.9 × 55.1 in.), the textile has considerable wall presence and functions as both a work of Surrealist art and a highly decorative large-scale textile.
