The surfaces are densely decorated with hundreds of individual multicoloured millefiori (“a thousand flowers”) murrine, creating an extraordinary mosaic of floral and geometric motifs. When illuminated, the domed shades glow beautifully from within, bringing the reds, blues, greens, yellows and whites of the millefiori decoration dramatically to life. The mushroom form combined with the traditional Venetian glass technique gives these lamps a wonderfully playful Mid-Century Modern / 1950s Italian character. An exceptionally decorative and unusual matching pair, impressive both illuminated and unlit, and ideally suited as bedside lamps, console lighting or colourful statement pieces within a contemporary or eclectic interior.
