Title: Recreational Map of the Glacier National Park Montana, Waterton Lakes National Park Alberta; Created by J Scheurele / Great Northern Railway, 1925. At the time, it was the only national park on the main line of a transcontinental railway (Great Northern), which is shown in the lower left corner. The map locates many popular destinations within the parks including Lake McDonald, Going-to-the-Sun Road, Logan Pass, and Prince of Wales Hotel to name a few. Recreational scenes fill the park interior with some amusing depictions including: ice skating mountain goats, hiking bears, a cruise ship in Waterton Lake, bowling on the "bowling green," and friendly bears greeting a fearful automobile tour group. The title at lower right is shown on an animal hide stretched across a ranch gate with a circling Indian dance. Signed in the plate by Joseph Scheurele. Self-folds into pictorial wrappers, with the verso containing related text and illustrations. See less
