The tall rectangular block is worked over every face with an irregular relief of stacked bars and cut planes: no two sides alike, and no two examples alike either. That follows from the method. Ruda's textured ranges were made by kolsnittsteknik, in which the decoration is carved into soft carbon moulds and the glass is blown into them. The moulds were cheap to cut but wore down quickly, so each piece took a slightly different impression, and the surface reads as eroded stone rather than as repeated pattern.

The colour is a saturated bottle green, almost black where the walls are thickest and lightening to emerald where they thin. The original "ruda SWEDEN" foil label is still on the base.

Göte Augustsson (1917-2004) was a third-generation glassmaster who never attended art school. He designed five ranges for Ruda in the 1960s - Cobolt, Grön Rustik, Demant, Orient and Selena - and his work is held by the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm. The Ruda glassworks closed in 1972.
