The cabinet features a stepped architectural design and stands on four original castors, allowing it to be moved easily. A brass side handle further emphasizes its function as a serving trolley. The upper section opens to reveal a beautifully fitted bar interior with dedicated storage for glasses and decanters, while the drop-down front creates a practical serving surface. Glass panels incorporated into the top and serving area add a refined finishing touch.
The combination of warm wood, brass fittings, glass and fine French crystal gives this piece a luxurious 1930s Art Deco character. Both decorative and highly functional, it makes an exceptional statement piece for an interior, dining room or private bar.

An especially important feature of this cocktail bar is the accompanying Saint-Louis crystal service in the celebrated Caton pattern, comprising four decanters and twelve glasses.

The Caton pattern is one of Saint-Louis’ historic designs, characterised by its elegant classical proportions, substantial crystal and distinctive vertical cut decoration. The four decanters are beautifully balanced and finished with large faceted crystal stoppers, while the matching stemmed glasses continue the same refined design language.

Interestingly, the crystal pieces are not marked, which is consistent with earlier Saint-Louis production and adds to the period character of the set. The absence of later factory markings, together with the style and execution of the crystal, supports the early dating of the service.

A particularly fine detail is that each stopper was individually ground and fitted to its corresponding decanter. The stoppers are therefore not interchangeable: each one belongs to a specific bottle and forms a precise fit with its neck. This hand-fitted construction is characteristic of high-quality traditional crystal production and illustrates the craftsmanship involved in making the set.

The complete service consists of four matching decanters and twelve glasses, making it an unusually attractive and comprehensive accompaniment to the 1930s cocktail cabinet. See less
