Measuring an impressive 200 cm / 78.74 inches in width, the sideboard has the scale and visual authority of a true statement piece. Its powerful construction combines the refined geometry of French Art Deco with a distinctly sculptural character that anticipates the more expressive forms later associated with Brutalist design. The façade is articulated by three monumental doors, each centered by a remarkable hand-carved oak relief. The three individual compositions depict fish moving through water, a radiant rising sun over a stylized landscape, and birds in flight among clouds. Executed with strong graphic lines and considerable depth, these panels transform an otherwise functional cabinet into an exceptionally decorative work of furniture. Subtle brass bands frame the carved compositions, introducing a sophisticated contrast to the richly figured oak.
