A striking focal point above a fireplace, console, or sofa, the composition combines warm wood tones, sculptural relief, and traces of antique gilding.

Surviving fragments from a traditional Chinese marriage bed, dating to circa 1880, each pheasant is hand-carved in high relief with finely detailed feathers. Traces of original gilding remain beneath a rich, naturally aged patina developed over more than a century. Arranged symmetrically on a dark wood backplate, the carvings float approximately 2 cm above the surface, creating dimensional depth and subtle shifting shadows. Minor losses are consistent with age and preserve the character of these authentic antique architectural fragments.

Each pheasant measures approximately 15 cm H × 18 cm W. Overall backplate: 85 cm W × 25 cm H. Mounted with a 2 cm floating gap, the sculpture is ready to hang with pre-installed hardware.

This listing is for one original, one-of-a-kind Chinoiserie wall sculpture, composed of two antique Chinese pheasant carvings on a single new solid wood backplate. See less
