An exquisite Hepplewhite Colonial Revival bowfront sideboard, likely produced in the 40's or 50's. Expertly crafted with book-matched flame crotch mahogany door and drawer fronts, this piece is framed by delicate boxwood/satinwood line inlay and crossbanded top rail and edges.
The classic serpentine profile features a central drawer (with a decorative canted-corner crotch panel) flanked by side storage cabinets and upper cutlery drawers. It stands on six square fluted tapered legs with banded cuffs, and is fitted with authentic Hepplewhite-style oval brass bail pulls featuring relief detailing.
Exact maker unknown. Paper label (previously held on by metal clips on the top left corner of the back of the piece) no longer remains. Based on research of sideboards of this time (whose design, profile, and construction most closely mimic that of this one), the most likely candidates are Kittinger and Baker.
