The Details\.
This brooch is constructed from Apple Juice Bakelite. It has been proven to be Bakelite through testing. It is detailed with a gilded metal design suggesting leaves on a branch. Each leaf is an oval cut glass stone in shades of green, pink and blue. All of the stones are multi-faceted, bezel set and open-back mounted. The brooch fastens with a traditional safety catch and the fastening pin is attached to the brooch with a round hinge. The brooch measures 8cm x 2.75cm.

A Short History\.
A black Bakelite cuff detailed with a design identical to that seen on this brooch is featured in the book on page 81 of 'European Designer Jewelry' by Ginger Moro. It is described as being "probably Chanel". However, I believe that the cuff and, therefore, this brooch were more likely made in Czechoslovakia, as oval cut coloured glass stones in the same type of bezel settings are commonly found in necklaces known to have been produced in Czechoslovakia.
