This beautiful harmony of colors is characteristic of the "Rhapsody" collection, which František Zemek designed in the 1950s for the glassworks in Mstišov. The vase is 30 cm high and weighs approximately 950 grams. František Zemek came from a glassmaking family in Zlatná u Lučence, Slovakia. At the age of fifteen, he began his career at the Inwald glassworks in Dobronín, where he trained as a glass cutter. He then continued his studies at the Vocational School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod and then at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague under the guidance of Professor Karel Štipl, where he graduated in 1948. During his career, he worked in various glassworks, including those in Teplice and Škrdlovice, and gained experience in metallurgical practice at the school glassworks in Chřibská. The last years of his life he worked for Teplice sklo n.p. in Mstišov and for Karlovy Vary Glass n.p. (Moser), where he designed the still popular collections "Rhapsody" and "Harmony". height 30 cm, width 14 cm, depth 7 cm See less
