The rug is made of silk pile on a silk warp and is characterized by a fine weave with a density of approximately 250,000 knots per m². The central motif is a traditional Chinese landscape with mountain ranges, bodies of water, trees, willows and small rural buildings. The composition follows on from classic Chinese landscape painting, in which natural elements are arranged in a harmonious, peaceful scenery. Delicate shades of beige, cream, brown, blue-green and muted red create an elegant and balanced whole. An interesting detail is the wide monochrome border with a delicate geometric pattern, which optically frames the picture field. Long silk fringes on both sides further emphasize the luxurious character of the rug. The silk pile creates a typical variable shine depending on the angle of the incident light, thanks to which the color and pattern of the rug changes when viewed from different sides. This is a high-quality example of Chinese silk rug making from the second half of the 20th century, suitable not only as a floor rug, but also as a wall rug due to its pictorial character.
