Both lithographs come from Paris, specifically from the publisher Avenir, who was active at 34 rue Grenier Saint Lazare. They are exceptional works from the 19th century, depicting typical scenes of family life, expressing human emotions, interpersonal relationships and depicting rural society at the time. Le Pied de Boeuf – Shows a group of family members grouped around a woman who is in the center of the scene. The figures appear to be in intimate conversation, while an elderly woman in the background observes the scene with an expression of wisdom and calm. There is also a child and a dog on the left side of the painting, adding to the atmosphere of domestic comfort.
