Dantinne" (unidentified author, probably of french origin) date: late 19th century to early 20th century material: bronze (patinated), relief cast plaque : oval bronze plaque with a clockwise profile of a female head, decorated with a laurel wreath and a distinctive phrygian cap - a traditional symbol of freedom. The details of the hair and plant motifs (laurel, ears of grain) are plastically elaborate. The composition evokes an allegory of republican values, most likely depicting the figure of marianne - a symbol of the french republic. In the upper part there is a plastic bow with a hole for hanging. The signature "ch. Dantinne" is engraved on the lower edge of the hair. The back side bears the imprint of the casting mold. Notes: the patina and small traces of oxidation correspond to the age of the work. The plaque could have served as a decorative symbol of freedom, equality and the republican spirit. Its style corresponds to late academicism or symbolism from the french cultural circle. Dimensions: height 58.5 cm, width 35 cm, depth 2 cm See less
