The calm water surface is surrounded by rocky shores covered with tall conifers and traditional Japanese buildings set in a mountainous landscape. A sailboat sails on the lake, while other small vessels are indicated in the distance. The scene is executed with fine hand embroidery in muted natural shades of brown, beige, gray and blue. The detailed processing of the trees, rugged rocks, architecture and the ship's sails deserves particular attention. The different directions and density of the stitches create a plastic surface and an impressive impression of depth. The composition leads the eye across the water surface to the monumental silhouette of Mount Fuji, which dominates the entire scenery. The panel is framed by a wide decorative textile frame with a regular geometric and plant pattern. The back is reinforced with a wooden structure, which allows the work to be safely hung on the wall. Mount Fuji is one of the most important symbols of Japan. In Japanese art, it represents the beauty and constancy of nature, spiritual elevation and national identity. The combination of a sacred mountain, a calm lake, traditional architecture and sailing ships creates a harmonious landscape composition with a meditative atmosphere. This is a representative and collector's item of Japanese textile art, suitable for a historical interior, an oriental-themed salon, a castle room, a gallery or a private collection of Asian art.
