The auction … Read more This is the most unusual pair of chairs that I have ever bought (and I’m a chair addict). The auction house listed the chairs as Edwardian side chairs, but I don’t think they quite fit that category. They definitely have Edwardian/neoclassical elements such as the inlaid paterae on the seat frames and back stiles, etc; but those funky seat backs that look like French Gendarme together with the goofy feet make these guys totally original and so much fun. Additionally, these amazing chairs are only 35” high and their seats are at 15”—-which turns these guys into very unusual, decorative and (surprise!!), slipper chairs. These chairs would be stunning in front of a formal fireplace, principal bedroom, elegant dressing room—or even a secluded, intimate library. Both chairs are in overall very good condition with anticipated minor imperfections and natural patina. Our pricing includes reupholstery in the buyer’s fabric. See less
